🏦 How to Enroll in Atal Pension Yojana

  • NetBanking / Mobile Banking: Login to your SBI, HDFC, ICICI, PNB, or Post Office bank app, navigate to e-Services → Atal Pension Yojana, select your pension slab, and submit.
  • Branch Visit: Fill out the simple 1-page APY registration form at any bank branch or post office, provide your Aadhaar and savings account number, and sign the auto-debit consent.
  • Keep Sufficient Balance: Maintain the required balance on the auto-debit date each month to avoid overdue penalty interest (₹1 per month for contribution up to ₹100).

💡 Why Earlier Joining is Highly Rewarding

  • ₹210 vs ₹1,454 per Month: An 18-year-old pays only ₹210/month for a ₹5,000 pension, whereas a 40-year-old must pay ₹1,454/month for the exact same pension.
  • Sovereign Guarantee: The pension is explicitly backed by the Government of India under PFRDA. If fund returns are lower than expected, the central government funds the deficit.
  • Sec 80CCD(1B) Tax Benefit: Non-taxpayer subscribers who later become taxable can claim tax deduction under Section 80CCD up to ₹50,000.
