Privacy Policy & Permission Disclosures
🔒 Core Privacy Commitment & Architectural Guarantee
Phone Enhancer is built on a strict local-first, offline-by-default architecture. We do NOT collect, record, track, transmit, or monetize your personal files, private messages, screen content, keyboard inputs, device inventory, or browsing activities. All system enhancements run locally on your physical device.
1. Core Architecture & Data Principles
Phone Enhancer is engineered under the following core privacy guarantees:
- No User Tracking or Third-Party Analytics: Phone Enhancer contains NO third-party advertising SDKs, NO Google AdMob, NO Meta Audience Network, and NO Firebase Analytics or telemetry trackers.
- Local Room Database Storage: All user configurations, temporary setting timers, battery thresholds, and privacy impact counters are stored solely inside a local Android Room SQLite database on your device (
better_android_db). - Zero Account or Sign-In Requirement: You are never asked to register an account, log in with an email, or submit any personally identifiable credentials to use the application.
2. Sensitive Android Permissions & Prominent Disclosures
To deliver power-user OS utilities without requiring root access, Phone Enhancer requests specific Android platform permissions. In accordance with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, we provide explicit, transparent disclosures for every sensitive capability:
2.1 AccessibilityService API Usage (ScreenTextCopierService)
Google Play Review Declaration
Phone Enhancer utilizes Android's AccessibilityService API solely for two specific, user-initiated features:
- Select Anything (On-Screen OCR Text Copier): When explicitly triggered by the user via the Quick Settings tile or the in-app tool, the service reads on-screen text nodes (
rootInActiveWindow) in the active foreground application, enabling users to select and copy text from apps where standard text selection is disabled (such as Instagram captions, YouTube reels, video comments, and social feeds). - Per-App Screen Orientation Lock: When enabled, the service monitors window state transitions (
TYPE_WINDOW_STATE_CHANGED) solely to detect when a user-selected app enters the foreground, in order to automatically enforce the user's preferred orientation (Portrait, Landscape, or Auto-Rotate) and restore the default orientation upon returning to the home screen.
isSystemOrExcluded) that automatically skips and ignores SystemUI, the notification panel, lock screens, and on-screen keyboards (com.android.systemui, inputmethod, notificationmanager). Passwords, keypresses, and incoming notification popups are NEVER collected or processed.
2.2 Package Inventory Access (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)
Google Play High-Risk Policy
In compliance with Google Play's Package Visibility Policy, Phone Enhancer declares QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES solely for core, user-facing app management utilities:
- Per-App Orientation Rules: Allowing the user to view installed apps and select specific applications to lock to Portrait or Landscape.
- 1-Tap App Freezer & Process Stash: Enabling the user to select heavy background applications to freeze and terminate to save RAM.
- Notification Later & Quiet Hours: Mapping package identifiers to human-readable app names and icons so the user can configure selective snooze and batching rules.
Installed application inventory is processed exclusively on-device in local memory. Device inventory is never transmitted off your phone, never stored in the cloud, and never utilized for user profiling or advertising.
2.3 Notification Access & Runtime Posting (NotificationListenerService & POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
Phone Enhancer utilizes notification capabilities strictly for user-configured notification control:
NotificationListenerService: Used solely for the Notification Later utility to intercept non-urgent alerts during user-configured quiet hours and hold them in a local on-device digest. Notification text is saved exclusively in local Room storage and is never uploaded or shared with external parties.POST_NOTIFICATIONS(Android 13+ / API 33+): Requested at runtime to deliver real-time battery charge cutoff alerts, display the interactive "🛑 STOP ALARM" notification action button, show live network speed bitrate, and alert the user when their morning quiet hours digest is ready.
2.4 Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)
Used solely to draw the Extra Dim translucent low-light alpha overlay over the screen to dim display brightness below the hardware backlight minimum, and to display a non-interactive 2-second countdown HUD pill prior to delayed OCR capture so the notification shade can collapse cleanly.
This system overlay is purely a visual rendering layer. It collects zero touch input, records zero screen gestures, and captures zero user interaction telemetry.
2.5 Modify Audio Settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS)
Used for: (1) The Hardware Sensor Shield, toggling the microphone hardware mute line via AudioManager.setMicrophoneMute(true); and (2) The Bluetooth Disconnect Silencer, instantly muting media playback when wireless earbuds disconnect. Phone Enhancer does NOT record, stream, or store any microphone audio.
2.6 Foreground Services (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE)
In accordance with Android 14+ foreground service guidelines, Phone Enhancer uses foreground services with prominent user-visible notifications solely for persistent user tasks:
- Battery Health Alarm: Monitoring battery charging levels to trigger high-cutoff (80%/85%) and low-battery alerts piercing silent mode, complete with a direct "🛑 STOP ALARM" button.
- Live Network Speed Monitor: Displaying real-time download and upload bitrate in the status bar (automatically pauses when the screen turns off).
- Clipboard Auto-Wipe Guard: Running the countdown to overwrite and purge sensitive clipboard contents from memory.
- Timed Flashlight & Screen Timeout: Managing the automatic cutoff countdown timers.
2.7 Device Controls & Media Permissions
WRITE_SETTINGS: Used strictly to adjust and restore screen timeout duration.KILL_BACKGROUND_PROCESSES: Used strictly to terminate background processes of user-selected heavy apps.CAMERA&FLASHLIGHT: Used strictly to trigger the device torch viaCameraManager.setTorchMode(). Never takes photos or video.READ_MEDIA_IMAGES: Used strictly when the user shares an image into the Photo EXIF Stripper sharesheet target to strip GPS tags and timestamps before sharing.
3. Monetization, In-App Billing & Financial Data
Phone Enhancer provides core utilities on a Free Tier and offers optional power features through Phone Enhancer PRO:

4. Community Feature Wishlist API & Anonymous Data
Phone Enhancer connects to a serverless Cloudflare Workers API (betterandroid-wishlist-api.betterandroid-wishlist-api.workers.dev) solely to power the Community Feature Wishlist Hub.
When proposing or upvoting tool suggestions, only the proposal text and an anonymous randomized voter identifier are transmitted. We do NOT collect or log IMEI numbers, Google Advertising IDs, IP addresses, hardware serial numbers, or personal identity records.
5. Data Retention & User Control
Because all user data is stored strictly on your local device:
- You can clear all configurations, privacy scores, and batched notification items at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Phone Enhancer → Clear Storage / Clear Cache.
- Uninstalling the application permanently and irreversibly purges 100% of all local database files from your device.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)
Phone Enhancer does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since no personal user data is collected or transmitted from any device, our services fully comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
